Google Arts & Culture: 2022 AAPI Heritage Month

I worked with the Google Arts & Culture team to bring illustrations to their digital hub dedicated to Asian American-Pacific-Islander Month. For this project, I wanted to showcase the diversity of AAPI cultures without grouping them beneath one moniker. To do this, I researched different elements and symbols found across Asian and Pacific Islander art to incorporate in each scene. These elements include the hibiscus, mountain ridges and cherry blossoms, sampaguitas and water buffalo horns, elephant tusks and lotuses, and so much more. My hope is to illustrate our communities coming together, while at the same time celebrating their unique characteristics.

The Google team was gracious enough to feature me as the artist of the hub this year, as well as showcase my Care for Chinatown Project.

The APAHM hub was posted onto the main google site (the one and only), which according to the Arts & Culture team is a daunting feat!
